Capacitor Cb. If you use input capacitor Cb, make sure that you polarize it correctly. Use the polarity shown for inputs whose average voltage falls below transistor Q1's base voltage. Otherwise, reverse the capacitor. You can eliminate the capacitor and direct couple some input sources. Other sources will upset the transistor Q1 bias. I'll leave the experimentation to you.
